Shelter’s thrift shop to hold sale

The Thrift Shop for the Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter will conduct its monthly half-off sale from Tuesday through Monday at the Sacks on the Boulevard Thrift Shop, 12300 Washington Blvd., Suite J.

Thrift shop hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the hundreds of individuals who will enter the Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter.

Santa Fe Springs chamber to hold mixer

The Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce will hold a mixer or business card exchange from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rose Hills Memorial Park reception center, 3888 Workman Mill Road., Whittier.

It also will be hosted by Cafe ‘N Stuff. For information, call 562-944-1616.


Register for casino day trip

The La Mirada Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9148 is accepting reservations for its Aug. 29 bus trip to Pechanga Casino.

The bus will leave at 7:30 a.m. from the post, 13932 Valley View Ave., and return about 3 p.m. The cost is $15 per person.

National Night Out set Thursday

La Mirada’s annual National Night Out event to take a stand against crime will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at La Mirada Regional Park, 13701 S. Adelfa Ave.

The event will be held in conjunction with the concert in the park.

Representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, La Mirada Public Safety Team, Community Emergency Response Team and the
