Former Louisiana Tech quarterback Luke McCown has experienced a journeyman’s career during his time in the NFL and with his recent signing to the Cowboys, it’ll be his sixth team as he enters his 11th season.
While the 36 year old hasn’t stayed on a franchise for more than three years, he’s considered one of the most reliable backup QB options in the league.
It’s a loaded quarterback room for the Blue Stars with four on the roster, but McCown said getting off the couch to put on a Dallas uniform is an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
“I was being a parent to my six kiddos, but yeah training and I was evaluating a couple of other options knowing that this could be a possibility and I was holding out hope as a east Texas kid. I was holding out hope that something would go down here. Sure enough it did,” McCown explained.
Head coach Jason Garrett said, “We just thought it was an opportunity to bring another guy in and you look out there and at the players that were available, the personnel landscape and to try and bring a guy in that can help your football team. Again, great respect for what he’s done throughout his career and how he’s helped the other quarterbacks in the quarterback rooms he’s been in and we’re excited to bring him on board.”
