Newtown man arrested on sex assault charges – Connecticut News


NEWTOWN – A man who authorities say is facing a number of sexual assault charges for having sexual contact with several young victims turned himself in to police this week.

Richard Saunders, of Huntington Road, is facing four counts each of fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and impairing the morals of a child in connection to several incidents of sexual contact with young children, police said.

Saunders turned himself in on Monday after learning their was a warrant for his arrest. The investigation was led by one of the department’s school resource officers and authorities indicated that the incidents occurred over several years.

Saunders is being held on a $100,000 bond.
