Norwalk man in custody following fatal Victorville swap meet stabbing – California News

VICTORVILLE >> A store owner at the Victorville Galleria indoor swap meet was stabbed to death during a robbery Sunday evening, officials said..

The attacker, identified as Norwalk resident Tom Raymond, 29, was detained by security guards, then arrested by San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of murder.

Authorities said there is no evidence suggesting Raymond knew victim Chong Suk Hong, 62, or had been to her shop — Xtreme Menswear — in the past.

A person called 911 about 5:45 p.m. Sunday to report that someone had assaulted a clerk at the swap meet and that guards had detained the attacker, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

When deputies arrived, they found Hong “suffering from violent injuries,” the news release said — she had been stabbed several times.

Hong was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Department asks anyone with information about the incident to contact Homicide Detective Scott Stafford at 909-387-3589. Information can be submitted anonymously at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or www.wetip.com.
