Obituary of Marion Kuhl | TheUnion.com – California News

Marion Kuhl passed from this life peacefully on June 23, 2017, with her daughters by her side. She was 93 years old. Marion was a 3rd generation Californian, born on July 30, 1923, in Lodi, California, to Charles and Norma Posey. She was the youngest of 3 children, preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and James. She graduated from Lodi High School and was a math major at San Francisco State, returning to Lodi at the onset of WWII. Marion met Vernon Kuhl at the Hotel Lodi, where she worked as a switchboard operator. Their marriage blessed her with 2 daughters, Marcia and Donna, and 2 step-children Arlyss and D. George.

Marion was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Lodi Unit #22, moving up through all the chairmanships and offices. Proudly serving as California’s Department President in 1976 – 1977, her Gypsy theme provided colorful leadership. The next phase of Marion’s life took her to Burlingame, Ca., where she worked at the American Heart Association until she retired in 1988 and moved to Nevada City, Ca. — “God’s Country.”

Marion was a longtime San Francisco Giants fan, as was her mother. She was also a fan of 49ers football and NASCAR. She enjoyed live theater and music, getting together with family and always welcoming new friends. “Grammie” was the last of her generation and was truly the matriarch of her family. Loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others, she will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Spring Hill Manor for the quality care and attention our Grammie received.
