THEFTS

5401 PHOENIX AVE.: A cut-off saw and a chain saw valued at $1,100 were reported stolen during a break-in into a utility trailer at Sodie’s Wine & Spirits. 

GRINNELL AVENUE, 2800 BLOCK: Two jackets valued at $270 were reported stolen during a vehicle break-in. 

WYNONA STREET, 1ST BLOCK: A laptop valued at $900 was reported stolen during a residential burglary. 

ASSAULTS

A VAN BUREN WOMAN reported a man threw a knife at her during a physical fight involving multiple people. The woman reported she thought she had been hit by a rock or brick until she looked down and saw that she was bleeding from her left side just below her chest. 

A CHESTER MAN reported helping his girlfriend place their child into a car seat and into the back seat of a truck when she told him to get into the driver’s seat and she would finish putting the child into the truck. The man reported not getting into the truck, and the woman, without warning, shoved the car seat into the truck and jumped into the driver’s seat. The man reported the truck was already running, with the woman beginning to drive off in a reckless manner and he, out of reflex, grabbed the driver’s side mirror and held on long enough to be pulled by the truck. After the woman reportedly pulled out in front of traffic and almost got hit by a van, the mirror broke and the man fell to the ground, hurting his right elbow and bumping his head.
