Valley Briefs: Surveillance camera aids in arrest – California News

A vigilant public safety dispatcher and a surveillance camera are being credited for prompting the arrest of a 41-year-old Mexicali man at 11:10 a.m. Monday for allegedly selling narcotics at Border Park, the Calexico Police Department reported.

Gabriel Ruiz was taken into custody by responding officers after dispatcher Leo Miramon had reportedly observed live streaming video of Ruiz engaging in narcotics sales at the park, a CPD press release stated.

When contacted by Officer Miguel Carbajal, Ruiz was allegedly found in possession of more than six ounces of methamphetamine, the press release stated.

Ruiz was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales and transported to the county jail.
