It’s more summer for Long Beach. The high 70s and low 80s are expected this week, with some clouds scattered. Lows should be in the 60s and 70s.
Watering days are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from April 1 through Sept. 30.
Long Beach has settled into its summer rhythm of activities, with plenty of festivals and other items.
One of this weekend’s events is the ARP (Automotive Racing Products, Inc.) Long Beach Sprint Nationals. The event runs from 9 a.m. to around 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5 and 6, at the Long Beach Marine Stadium (5255 E. Paoli Way). Gates will open at 8 a.m.
Another item is the free to attend Copa Cabana Long Beach Soccer Tournament, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5 and 6, at Alamitos Beach (700 E. Shoreline Dr.), across from the Convention Center (300 E. Ocean Blvd.).
Yet another is the free Kids’ Fishing Rodeo, from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 5, on the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier (15 39th Pl.). Loaner gear will be available for youngsters up to age 16, but people can bring their own. Families also are invited to attend. Those younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Still another event is the Long Beach Zine Fest. The free, independent publishing, do-it-yourself fest runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) — with “The Future Is Folded” theme.
