The Gadsden City Council at Tuesday’s meeting approved an economic development agreement to bring a Harbor Freight store to Gadsden.
The business will be at Riverview Plaza on George Wallace Drive, and the city has granted a rebate of 50 percent of sales tax receipts for three years or until a total of $180,000 has been paid.
City Council President Deverick Williams said the agreement is consistent with other development agreements that have been given.
The store is expected to open in September.
The council also approved two agreements with Tyco, a fire alarm company.
One agreement was $14,945.45 for installation and $984.58 annually for fire alarm service for Building T-1 at the Air Depot, and the second was $9,931.13 for the repair of an existing fire alarm system that was struck by lightning.
