RENO, Nev. — As one of the most unique events on the PGA Tour, running a modified stableford format, the Barracuda Championship draws some big names in golf.
Golf fans will be treated to many household names on the slate for the week including Padraig Harrington, Davis Love III and his son Dru Love, Retief Goosen, Hunter Mahan and Angel Cabrera.
Harrington has been a household name on tour since he turned professional in the mid ’90s, and burst into the spotlight in 2007 and 2008 when he won three Major Championships.
Another big name in golf, Love III, who recently captained the victorious United States Ryder Cup team, will be playing along with his son Dru Love who was a standout at the University of Alabama. When not playing against each other, the two have caddied for one another in big tournaments like the U.S. Open. Love III will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in October.
Three more longtime tour staples joining this year’s tournament are Mahan, Goosen and Cabrera. Mahan has been a force on the tour since turning professional out of Oklahoma State, racking up six victories and making an appearance on the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup team. While Cabrera and Goosen have made their largest impact internationally, they have still earned big wins in the United States. This includes Major Championship victories at the 2007 U.S. Open and the 2009 Masters for Cabrera and two U.S. Open victories in 2001 and 2004 for Goosen.
With all of the action happening inside the ropes there is still plenty of fun to be had outside as well.
