Laughs on the links: Craig’s Young Life golf tourney set for Saturday – Colorado News

The Bear River Young Life 2017 Charity Golf Tournament takes place Saturday at Yampa Valley Golf Course.

The four-person scramble features an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and costs $65 per person or $260 per team for greens fees, catered lunch and cart fees.

A $1,700 payout for the best scores of the day is only one of many features for the yearly event to support the local youth ministry organization.

Justin Kawcak of 360 Insurance takes over organizing from Young Life’s David Pressgrove, who will be otherwise occupied during the tournament.

The tourney is well-known for some of its more unusual offerings, including a hole in which golfers will tee off with goggles provided by Grand Futures Prevention Coalition, an example of “drunk driving.”

Kawcak said a $24,000 cash prize also awaits the recipient of a hole-in-one on the seventh hole, while gear from Dixon Golf is also at stake, as well as silent auction items.

“There’s plenty of opportunities to win something,” Kawcak said. “It’s a great atmosphere with all the different events and a great way to support Young Life.”

Kawcak added that registration is still available but “teams are filling up fast.”

Register online at bearriver.younglife.org or at the golf course. Fees are due by the day of the event, but players are encouraged to do so in advance.
