The free Third Annual Long Beach Zine Fest will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Museum of Latin American Art (628 Alamitos Ave.).
The all ages event features independent print media, zines, zine culture and more than 100 self-publishing writers, artists, photographers and do-it-yourself advocates. Workshops, discussions, food, music and more also will be on hand.
Zines historically were folded, spine-stapled pamphlets used by underground communities to spread information. The modern use, abbreviated from magazine, describes a wide range of self-published, handmade, print-based media.
Parking is available at the event.
