Pitkin County Sheriff Joe Disalvo announced today that the fire restrictions put in place July 1 have been lifted.
“With the return to normal monsoonal weather patterns recently, fuel moisture levels in the Roaring Fork Valley have returned to near normal levels for this time of year eliminating the need for the fire restrictions,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The Stage 1 fire restrictions were implemented because of unseasonably warm weather and dry conditions.
Aspen’s Fourth of July fireworks show was canceled because of the restrictions, which ban fireworks from being ignited. Other restrictions banned campfires outside of recreational land and smoking in outdoor areas that were not clear of flammable material.
