FASTPITCH SOFTBALL: Grass Valley teams, players to compete in Tahoe City tourney – California News

This weekend’s Pete ‘n Peters Men’s Fast Pitch Softball Classic in Tahoe City will have a strong Grass Valley presence when the tournament opens its three-day run Friday night.

For starters, Friday evening’s 7:30 p.m. opener between Walker’s Outlaws and the host Pete ‘n Peters team will see an Outlaw squad augmented by Grass Valley players Walter Carson, Aaron Wilcox, Chas Lowry, Mike Lenz, Ken Claxton, Duke Barnes, Chris Bodily and Bob Woods.

One of the prohibitive favorites in the tournament will be Grass Valley’s All-Star Automotive. The heavy-hitting local team is coming off a strong second place finish in the Seattle Invitational. All-Star Automotive’s first game is at 9 a.m. Saturday against the Pirates. They also play later in the day at 3 p.m. against the River City Rockers. Sunday’s games are yet to be determined.

The Rockers, a Colfax-based team, will have former Colfax High School players Tyler Phillips, Bryan Fontana and Kevin Fontana in their line-up.

Pool play in the tournament will take place on Friday and Saturday with bracket elimination action highlighted Sunday by the championship game set for 2:45 p.m.

Pete ‘n Peters of Tahoe City is combining efforts with the Colfax Recreation Association to host the six-team men’s tournament at the iconic Conners Field at Tahoe Lake School in Tahoe City.
