The Fort Smith Police Department is investigating a recent rash of commercial burglaries in the area.
From July 14-31, police responded to five commercial burglaries in close proximity to each other and may be related, according to a news release from the Fort Smith Police Department. Sites of the burglaries include New Life Church, 9000 Dallas St.; Community Bible Church, 9201 Dallas St.; Faith United Methodist Church, 2901 Massard Road; East Side Baptist Church, 2710 Massard Road; and Chaffin Junior High, 3025 Massard Road.
According to police reports, all of the burglaries occurred during very early morning, and items reported stolen were computer equipment, such as monitors, towers and tablets. The suspect, according to the news release, doesn’t appear deterred by surveillance equipment and wears unique tactical gear.
Detectives David Williams and Eric Fairless are leading the investigation and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who they believe to be a white male in his late teens or early 20s, roughly 5-foot-10 and weighing an estimated 170 pounds.
