NORWALK — “How Genetic Editing Is Changing Our Lives” is the subject of a Monday, Aug. 14 program of the Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County. It will be followed by speakers on other current topics. The program will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Silver Star Restaurant, 210 Connecticut Ave., Norwalk.
Dr. Manny Ratafia will give an overview of the applications of CRISPR, a new method for changing genes in living beings. The applications include health care, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, energy and computers. Ratafia is a technology entrepreneur and angel investor. He has organized and spoken at numerous meetings on the applications of new technologies.
