Montgomery Ballet bringing two nights of free outdoor ballet to Blount Cultural Park
There will be thrills, chills, laughs, maybe a few tears, a touch of Vaudeville and even pirates.
Most definitely there will be dancing.
The Montgomery Ballet has two special nights of free outdoor shows ahead Friday and Saturday as Performance on the Green returns to Blount Cultural Park. It’s a taste of two worlds of music and dance, with a ragtime piece and a classical selection from Le Corsaire (The Pirate).
“The goal for this performance in particular was to have it be a well-rounded show,” said Joseph Villalobos, who co-directs Montgomery Ballet with wife Laura. “There’s very dramatic parts. There’s grandiose parts. There’s slapstick comedy. There’s ‘Wow, I want to cry after that.’ It’s a full experience of everything you can get.”
“I think this is a great way for people who have not had a lot of experience watching live dance performance before to kind of get their feet wet,” said Laura. “Because it is fun and family friendly.”
