Members of the Pleasanton Art League are holding their eighth annual fall juried exhibit at the Harrington Art Gallery in the Firehouse Arts Center through Sept. 2.
This year the event includes weekly demonstrations from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursdays, a chance to observe the wide range of styles and materials and to chat with the artists.
The remaining schedule is as follows:
Aug. 10 — Judy Rice, watercolor
Aug. 17 — Linda Hopwood, colored pencil
Aug. 24 — Charlotte Severin, watercolor on Yupo paper; and Peggy Magovern, mixed media
Aug. 31 — Kathleen Hill, oil.
Approximately 54 members of PAL are represented in the multi-disciplinary exhibit, most of whom live in the greater Tri-Valley area, said Harrington Gallery director Julie Finegan. Media include watercolor, oil, mixed-media, pencil and photography. All works have been completed within the last two years and have not been shown in the area before.
The special guest judge this year is Dale Laitinen, a well-known California watercolor painter, who evaluated works for admission and awarded prizes for outstanding pieces.
Pleasanton Art League, established in 1969, is a nonprofit organization, open to everyone from novice to professional artist, that works to make visual arts an integral part of the Tri-Valley.
