PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) — Corey Toups hit a grand slam in the first inning, and Jake Junis allowed just three hits over six innings as the Omaha Storm Chasers topped the Fresno Grizzlies 9-1 on Tuesday.
The grand slam by Toups capped a five-run inning and gave the Storm Chasers a 5-0 lead after Dean Anna hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.
The Storm Chasers later added three runs in the second and one in the sixth to finish off the blowout.
Junis (3-5) allowed one run while striking out five and walking two to pick up the win.
Kent Emanuel (1-1) went five innings, allowing eight runs and 11 hits in the Pacific Coast League game. He also struck out three and walked three. Pedro Fernandez pitched three scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
