The World’s Longest Yard Sale is back again starting Thursday with 690 miles of anything and everything for sale stretching from Gadsden to Michigan. The yard sale will continue through Aug. 6.
The sale starts at Noccalula Falls Park, 1500 Noccalula Road., in Gadsden, where vendors will set up at the front of the park. It will follow Tabor Road north to continue along the yard sale path. It’s 93 miles from the Gadsden kick-off point to Chattanooga, where the route joins U.S. Highway 127, all the way to Addison, Michigan.
We gathered up some shopping tips from Greater Gadsden Tourism and DeKalb Tourism to help make the sale safe and fun for the whole family:
Know where to go
Call Greater Gadsden Tourism at 888-565-0411 and they’ll send a map that highlights exactly where to go to follow the yard sales north. Green signs that say “Lookout Mountain Parkway” will help keep you on the trail between Gadsden and Chattanooga.
Dress for the weather
It’s hot in Alabama, and that’s not likely to change before the weekend. Dark clothing absorbs heat, so wear clothes that are both light-colored and lightweight. Don’t forget sunscreen, mosquito repellant and some sunglasses, just in case.
Be ready for a walk
Bring comfortable shoes and some water to stay hydrated. Some sales will be in walking distance of one another, and it may make more sense to take the trek on foot than to climb back into the car.
Plan for purchases
