Paradise >> For the third day in a row, air quality is predicted to be unhealthy today in Paradise and the Butte County foothills for children, the elderly, and those with heart and lung conditions.
The Butte County Air Quality Management District said ozone will build up at foothill elevations to a level that exceeds health standards.
Ozone forms when vehicle exhaust is heated in summer temperatures. The gas rises but is trapped by a temperature inversion that often forms over the Sacramento Valley in hot summertime conditions.
