City removes statue: Repairs to be made – Arkansas News

The City of Mena has removed a statue, The Boy and Girl Fountain, that has long resided at Janssen Park, in order for repairs to be made.

In May, the nickel-alloy sculpture was sent to Master Works Studio in Missouri to refurbish the century-old piece of art.

Quotes for the project ranged as high as $17,600, however, the low quote of $5,000 to $9,000 was selected.

“This is a project we are proud of,” said George McKee, Mena Mayor. “Preserving our history is important to us and we look forward to the fountain being back home soon with repairs having been made.”
