A golf tournament known as “Holes for Heroes” honoring veterans who served in all wars since World War II and benefiting area military charities is looking for participants and sponsors.
The San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Foundation is running its 11th annual Holes for Heroes Golf Tournament and Military Appreciation event Sept. 15 at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club.
The event features a day of golf alongside veterans, active-duty military members and their families.
The Holes for Heroes Recognition Dinner will honor World War II and Vietnam former POWs and is expected to draw 200 attendees. Special honorees for this year are WWII veterans and families of those lost.
Proceeds go to nonprofits helping area military, such as Freedom Dogs, Honor Flight, The Armed Services YMCAs of Camp Pendleton and San Diego, Operation Bigs, Physician Advocates for Veterans and Veterans Village. The goal is to raise $150,000. Holes for Heroes has raised more than $1 million since 2006 for area military charities.
Registration is at 10:30 a.m. and shotgun start is at noon at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, 1505 Lomas Santa Fe, Solana Beach.
Tickets cost $1,100 for golf foursome (includes dinner), $275 for single player (includes dinner), or $75 per person for dinner-only tickets.
