Repair work begins on Highway 38 | Big Bear Valley News – California News

The California Department of Transportation has begun repairing the existing embankment (rock slope) and the drainage system on State Route 38 near Barton Flats between Glass Road and South Fork Santa Ana River. The damage occurred in the aftermath of the Lake Fire, which took place in 2015. The repair project began Aug. 1 with work hours on Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The project requires one-way traffic control with flagging. Delays are expected to be minimal.  The project is expected to be complete in early October, weather permitting.

Check traffic conditions on the Caltrans QuickMap at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ before traveling. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, add extra time to their commute and consider alternate routes to avoid the work zone.
