IMPERIAL — Word of mouth spread the love of a good read as many more families flocked to the library here this year for the Summer Reading Program that concluded with a party.
About 40 children, some accompanied by parents, met in city council chambers next to the library for a lunch of pizza, chips and bottled water to celebrate the power readers among themselves. Grand prize winners were awarded, based on a reading log tally, with back packs, games and electronics. There were three competing categories comprised of ages 0 to 5 years old, with four winners because of twins, 6 to 12 years old with two winning candidates and 13 to 17 years old with two top finalists.
