Southside police urge caution about calls – News – Gadsden Times – Alabama News

Southside police are cautioning city residents about telephone sales calls being made under a false flag, according to the department’s Facebook page.

The department has received calls from residents who have gotten calls that — according to caller identification — come from the City of Southside, from the number 256-442-9773.

The person making the calls is trying to sell medical ID bracelets, but has no affiliation with the city, which according to the Facebook post does not make calls soliciting funds or trying to sell any type of products.

Anyone receiving a call of this kind asking for donations or trying to sell a product is advised to hang up immediately and contact Deputy Chief Phil Roberson or Sgt. Jay Freeman at 256-442-2255.
