A carpet-cleaning truck caught fire Saturday, causing $100,000 damage to a carport at an apartment complex in the La Sierra neighborhood of Riverside, fire officials say.
The blaze, reported at 12:03 p.m. in the Esplanade Apartment Homes in the 11700 block of Riverwalk Parkway, caused the carport to be red-tagged, according to a Riverside city fire news release.
Five vehicles also sustained damage, fire officials say. No other buildings were damaged and no one was injured.
The initial investigation blamed the blaze on equipment failure inside the carpet-cleaning truck – which was being used to clean one of the apartments, fire officials say.
Sixteen firefighters were assigned to the incident, according to the release.
