GRANVILLE, W.Va. (AP) — Ike Schlabach tossed a five-hit complete game, leading the West Virginia Black Bears to a 4-1 win over the State College Spikes on Friday.

Schlabach (4-3) picked up the win after he struck out two and walked three while allowing one run.

West Virginia started the scoring in the second inning when Chris Sharpe hit a two-run double and then scored on a single by Jared Oliva.

State College answered in the top of the next frame when Brandon Benson hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to two.

The Black Bears tacked on another run in the fourth when Robbie Glendinning scored on a ground out.

Daniel Castano (7-2) went 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs and seven hits while striking out five in the New York-Penn League game.

For the Spikes, Benson homered and doubled.

West Virginia improved to 4-2 against State College this season.
