Berkeley firefighters battle structure fire – California News

BERKELEY — Firefighters have a two-alarm fire that struck an apartment building in the city’s Poet’s Corner neighborhood under control Sunday evening.

Just after 7:30 p.m., a Berkeley fire dispatcher confirmed firefighters were working to fight the fire but released few other details.

Social media posts from nearby residents appeared to locate the fire on Addison Street between Sacramento and Acton streets south of University Boulevard.

According to a tweet from Berkeley fire chief Gil Dong, one person suffered burns after fire struck a three-story apartment building with 27 apartments at 1420  Addison Street. The fire was under control at 8:11 p.m..

Authorities did not immediately confirm reports of multiple displaced residents.
