Folsom High Bulldogs, other Sacramento region schools gear up for competitive football season opener – California News

High school football in the Sacramento region has gained a reputation as some of the best brand of ball any where on the West Coast.

The old saying that “practice makes perfect” rings true as teams prepare for Aug. 25 openers. The Bee on Friday and Saturday made a Highway 50 trek to visit Capital Christian, Folsom and Oak Ridge high schools to watch as the teams go through drills.

Capital Christian added coach Casey Taylor, who won championships at Del Oro, and a stellar staff that includes lineman coach Dave Hoskins.

Folsom has been top-ranked by The Bee for every football week since before the 2012 season under coach Kris Richardson. Will the Bulldogs start this season at No. 1?

Oak Ridge has been a power in El Dorado Hills since the 1980s and seeks its first Sac-Joaquin Section title under coach Eric Cavaliere, whose best player is quarterback Marco Baldocchino.
