Teddy Bears’ Picnic story time takes over A.K. Smiley Public Library’s children’s garden – California News




Children, parents and teddy bears gathered July 28 in the children’s garden at the A.K. Smiley Public Library for a Teddy Bears’ Picnic story time.

The event celebrated the reopening of the updated children’s garden, outside the library’s Young Readers’ Room.

More than 100 people came to the story time, including about 60 children.

The event featured stories, songs, snacks and a teddy bear craft activity, and children were encouraged to bring their favorite teddy bears.

The A.K. Smiley Public Library, at 125 W. Vine St., Redlands, offers several weekly story times, including pajama story time 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the story corner of the Young Readers’ Room. Others are Hindi story time 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Spanish story time 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Chinese story time 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays, all in the Young Readers’ Room.

The library also offers story times at the Contemporary Club, near the library at 173 S. Eureka St. Preschool story and craft time for ages 4 to 6 is 10:15 a.m. Wednesdays at the Contemporary Club, and tiny tot story time, for ages 2 to 3, is 10:15 and 10:55 a.m. Thursdays at the Contemporary Club.
