Four people died and two others were injured in a vehicle collision on the Interstate 10 Freeway between Cherry and Citrus avenues in Fontana on the afternoon of Aug. 4.
Two of the persons who were killed were children, according to the California Highway Patrol, which is trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
The crash involved three vehicles — a 1998 Toyota Tacoma truck, a Honda sedan (which had experienced mechanical issues and was on the right shoulder of the eastbound I-10), and a Nissan Frontier truck, said CHP Officer Jesus Garcia.
At about 12:35 p.m., the Nissan drifted onto the right shoulder and struck a man and woman who were standing outside the stranded vehicle. The Nissan continued forward, striking the rear of the Honda, and pushed the Honda forward into the rear of the Toyota truck, causing the Toyota to veer left across traffic lanes and into the center divider…
