Former Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, made headlines last week after expressing full support for the current Salton Sea efforts in a meeting in Mecca on July 27. The comments come as the candidates who will be in the running to be the next Governor of California start ramping their efforts ahead of the 2018 election.
The meeting was hosted by the office of Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, in which officials from the IID, Salton Sea Authority and the Assistant Secretary for Salton Sea policy for the California Natural Resources Agency, Bruce Wilcox, provided the guest with an update on the current status of the Salton Sea Management Program, a 10- year plan and the many challenges which lay ahead.
