An argument among two groups of people inside a restaurant-bar spilled into a downtown Riverside street early Sunday, Aug. 6, and led to shots fired and the non-life threatening wounding of a female bystander, according to Riverside police.
Officers responded about 2:25 a.m. to Main and Sixth streets in Riverside’s downtown commercial area after the argument began earlier inside ProAbition, a prohibition era-themed restaurant and whiskey bar.
As both groups were getting into their cars, shots were fired and a stray bullet struck a female bystander in the leg, police spokesman Ryan Railsback wrote in an email.
Railsback said police did not have a suspect description. They were unsure Tuesday morning who among the two groups may have fired shots.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The two groups of people fled the scene.
