NORWALK — A Norwalk man is facing assault and robbery charges after, police said, he punched a person and stole their wallet on Cedar Street.
Police said the incident was not random. The suspect, Tamoris Thomas, 38, of 12 Bayview Ave., knew the victim, who he previously lived with, police said.
The victim was walking on Cedar Street when Thomas allegedly attacked them from behind, punched them in the face and stole their wallet. Another person walking on the street witnessed the incident, as did a person driving by who stopped to help.
Officers were able to locate Thomas, who the victim recognized immediately. The victim sustained injuries to their face and legs.
Police said incidents like this almost always take place between individuals who know each other.
Thomas was charged with third-degree assault, breach of peace and third-degree robbery. He was given a court date of Aug. 7 and bond was set at $25,000.
