ALHAMBRA >> Authorities identified the motorcyclist killed during a head-on collision on the weekend as a 20-year-old Whittier man.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner’s office, said Adrian Marcus Villareal was pronounced dead at 1:18 a.m. Sunday at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.
The fatal crash occurred at 12:39 a.m. Sunday on Valley Boulevard near Westminster Avenue. Alhambra police initially said the motorcycle was westbound on Valley Boulevard before the collision, but now say the motorcyclist was heading east at the time.
For still unknown reasons, the motorcyclist crossed into opposing traffic and was struck by a Hyundai sedan traveling west on Valley Boulevard, according to Sgt. Steven Carr.
“Preliminary evidence shows the motorcyclist crossed into westbound lanes,” he said.
He said the Los Angeles woman driving the car and her three passengers weren’t injured.
Paramedics took the motorcyclist to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
