Pedestrian crossing Pico Rivera street hit by car, in critical condition – California News

PICO RIVERA >> A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after he allegedly jaywalked across a busy street and got hit by a car Monday.

Lt. Alex Villanueva of the sheriff’s Pico Rivera station said the 48-year-old man is currently on life support at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.

The accident happened near Rosemead and Washington boulevards at 7:10 a.m.

Villanueva said the man tried to cross Washington Boulevard about 100 feet west of the intersection. He added that the man was not in a crosswalk.

He said the man made it past the westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes, then was struck by a car heading east.

Other vehicles stopped, but one driver couldn’t stop in time, according to Villanueva.
