NORWALK — A Norwalk man is facing assault charges after he was woken up by a concerned individual who saw him sleeping in his car for over an hour, police said.
Police said someone approached the vehicle to check on Doug Robinson, 56, of Toilsome Avenue. Robinson then chased the victim into a house and attempted to strangle them, police said. Police said the person was able to dial 911, but did not speak to dispatchers.
Instead, dispatchers could hear a person shouting in the background saying they were going to kill three people with a shotgun.
Officers arrived at the scene and saw many things had been broken or shattered and the victim, who had red marks and bruising on their neck, was struggling to breathe.
Robinson was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, criminal mischief and assault on a person over 60 years old.
