ROBBERY

A 28-year-old Gadsden woman told police she was robbed by two men as she was walking to the steps of her apartment Thursday night in the 500 block of George Wallace Drive. Two men ran at her, one wearing a red coat, the other a black one. The man in the red coat pointed a gun at her head, demanding money and threatening her. She gave them her money and her cell phone.

ARSON

A residence in the 400 block of Carolyn Lane was damaged by a fire, apparently set in two places inside the house. The fire, reported at about 4:45 a.m. Monday, is under investigation by the Gadsden Fire Department.

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

A woman reported her suspicion that her dog was shot Aug. 1 outside her home in the 200 block of South Ninth Street. She told police her daughter and stepson let the one-year-old brown brindle Pitbull outside at they normally did and heard a shot. When the stepson went out and asked a neighbor if he’d seen the dog, the neighbor pointed out a direction of travel and then left in a white car with no tag. The owner had not been able to find the dog until Animal Control officers called and said they found the dog dead on Seventh Avenue. They were not able to determine if the dog had been shot, and she asked for an autopsy.

BURGLARIES/THEFTS

Someone cut a window screen Friday to burglarize a residence in the 800 block of Avenue F. The resident heard something and thought it was her son. When she called out the person ran out the front door and she discovered the burglary.

A burglary was reported at a residence in the 300 block of Elmwood Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and 1 a.m. Thursday. Rent money was stolen.
