WEEKLY UPD REPORT: For the week of July 26 through Aug. 1, the UPD reports responding to 467 calls for service, writing 61 reports and making 30 arrests, eight of them for felonies. Officers handed out six traffic citations and 25 warnings. The top five reasons for calls were: suspicious person (88), transients (45), alarms (24), animals (20) and fights (17).
SUSPICIOUS PERSON: An officer contacted a suspicious person at the corner of South Orchard Avenue and Peach Street at 3:12 p.m. Aug. 1 and arrested a 21-year-old Ukiah woman on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and of violating her probation. She was booked into Mendocino County Jail. Two days later she was booked on camping chargess.
MARIJUANA GROW: Caller in the 1200 block of South Dora Street reported at 6:56 p.m. Wednesday that a large marijuana grow was at the location as well as an ongoing issue with barking dogs. An officer provided service.
MAN WITH RIFLE: Caller at Walmart on Airport Park Boulevard reported at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday that a man was pointing a rifle at the nearby convenience store. An officer responded and determined the incident was not as reported.
TRANSIENT REFUSING TO LEAVE: Caller in the 100 block of North Orchard Avenue reported at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday that a man was refusing to leave. An officer responded and the person left upon request.
