Dave Ulrich: Welcome back to school – Colorado News

The school year is beginning soon. The first day for students is Monday, Aug. 28.

Our staff will work hard every day for your student so you have the confidence that Moffat County Schools are the best choice for your student’s education. I encourage students to access one or more of the great activities available to them. The research is clear that students who are involved in activities are more successful in school.

One of the focus area goals in our MCSD Strategic Plan is to use a variety of methods to communicate regularly and effectively with parents and district stakeholders. Teachers and principals will use many different ways to get the word out to you. You will see printed newsletters, websites, emails, and even text messages to ensure you have all the information you need about your student’s school. Our student information system, Infinite Campus, will have a new way to get information about your student called “Messenger.” With Messenger, you will be able to indicate preferences for how you receive information.

For our parents of middle school and high school students, online access to your students’ information through the Parent Portal will continue to be available. New this year, Parent Portal will be available for parents of elementary school students. Parents of elementary students will now be able to monitor their students’ attendance as well as their lunch accounts. The paperwork for signing up for Parent Portal will be sent home with your student in September. Make sure your contact information is up to date so you don’t miss out on any items throughout the year.
