A Flash Flood Watch has been extended across the River Region until 1 p.m. Wednesday. 

The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a flash flood watch on Tuesday morning for Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties, along with most of central Alabama. 

Showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday with new rainfall expected to continue throughout the night and into Wednesday, NWS data shows. 

WEATHER FORECAST

Tuesday afternoon

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 81. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Tuesday night

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 10 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10pm. Low around 74. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday

Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. 

Wednesday night

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
