SANTA CLARA — A couple in their 70s was found shot to death Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.
Around noon, police received a 911 call regarding an “unknown situation” at a home on the 2200 block of Homestead Road, near Haman Elementary School, said Santa Clara police Lt. Dan Moreno.
Officers who went to the home and spotted a body through a window and found a second when they went inside, Moreno said.
The couple — described as a man and a woman in their 70s — died of apparent gunshot wounds, said Moreno, adding that officers recovered a weapon inside the residence.
“It’s being investigated as a murder-suicide,” Moreno said.
Additional details about the case, including whether officers had been called to the home before Tuesday and the identities of the man and woman, were not immediately available.
