Gemology at RMA meeting


Bradford and Brian Walker will speak on the “The World of Gemology: History and Value of Precious Stones,’ at the regular Wednesday meeting of the Greenwich Retired Men’s Association at the First Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Place, Greenwich. Social hour begins at 10:40 a.m., followed by program at 11 a.m. Free and open to the public.

Library August Children’s Programs


Throughout August, Greenwich Library, 101 West Putnam Ave., will host children’s programs. Scheduled are: Thursday from 4 to 5:30 p.m., ArchForKids “Fun with Facades” workshop, for kids ages 6 and older at the library. Aug. 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., “Make it and Take it LEGO,” in the children’s room of the library. Aug. 22, 10:30 a.m., Petite Concert, a musical performance for newborns and pre-schoolers. Aug. 26, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Shell Crafts, a sea-shell decorating workshop. No registration required. Glebe tour


The Garden Education Center of Greenwich will host a visit to the Glebe House Museum and Gertrude Jekyll Garden from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday . Tickets are $35 for members, and $45 for non-members. Registration deadline is Aug. 4 at gecgreenwich.org.
