Suspicious activity in a local parking lot led to the arrest of two Twin Lakes Area residents on drug charges.
According to a news release from Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel, Amelia E. Pittaway, 32, of Mountain Home and Joshua C. Thompson, 27, of Bull Shoals were jailed Monday evening.
Manuel said that a local business reported suspicious activity in their parking lot and contact law enforcement, with officers contacting two subjects in the vehicle described by the caller.
Officers checked into records and inquired about the pair’s activities, and a “consent to search” of the vehicle was obtained. Authorities located substances believed to be drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Pittaway was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a Class D Felony; and Class A misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thompson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a Class D Felony; with an enhancement of being a habitual offender.
Both Pittaway and Thompson remain incarcerated at the Baxter County Detention Center on $2,500 bond, with Thomas also on hold for a parole violation.
