Two gang members arrested in Valley Center fatal shooting – California News

Two documented gang members from North County are facing murder charges in the February shooting death of a man in Valley Center.

Investigators have arrested Guillermo Bravo, 20, and Jonathan Gonzalez, 21, in the death of 29-year-old Escondido resident Jose Ortiz, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson said Tuesday.

Bravo and Gonzalez were already in jail on unrelated charges. Bravo, arrested in March on suspicion of driving a stolen car and possessing a firearm, was re-booked on Monday on the murder charge. Gonzalez, arrested July 28 arrest on an auto theft charge, was re-booked Aug. 3 on the murder charge.

Deputies were called to investigate a fight on Cole Grade Road in Valley Center on Feb. 27, Nelson said. Ortiz was found dead of a gunshot wound in his vehicle.

Witnesses told deputies that a suspect in his 20s left in an older, white vehicle.

No information was available about the connection between the three men or a motive for the shooting.
