The Big Bear Valley Historical Society marks its 50th anniversary this year. Boot Scootin’ for a Purpose raises money for the Historical Society while celebrating this year’s golden anniversary.
The party takes place Saturday, Aug. 12, at Wyatt’s Grill & Saloon in the Convention Center at Big Bear Lake.
Festivities include contests, an opportunity drawing, fun for the entire family, live music, food and drink specials, and birthday cake. Prizes are awarded for best dressed cowboy, cowgirl and little buckaroo.
History buffs will enjoy being challenged by the gunfighter and cowboy quiz. Guests will be able to help Margarita Meade (aka Gloria Meade) get out of jail by posting bail.
Wyatt’s offers a variety of dinner and drink specials with a portion of each benefitting the Historical Society. Guests have the opportunity to purchase special 50th anniversary Historical Society items. As keepers of the Valley’s heritage and historical data, the society is completely funded with donations and fundraising.
The Big Bear Valley Historical Society maintains and operates the Big Bear Valley Historical Museum, 300 B Greenway Drive, Big Bear City.
Boot Scootin’ For A Purpose kicks off at 4 p.m. with the fun lasting until 11 p.m. There is no cover charge, just plenty of good times, music and food.
