Bridgeport Police: Shots fired near Blackham School – Connecticut News


BRIDGEPORT—One person was shot in the leg near Blackham School on Wednesday, city spokesman Av Harris said.

A preliminary investigation suggested that around six shots were fired from inside a vehicle, he said.

The person shot in the leg was reportedly taken to a hospital in a private car. Officials worked Wednesday night to identify which hospital.

Police responded to multiple reports of a shooting around 6:20 p.m., according to police dispatch reports.

Shell casings from the shooting were recovered outside the school near the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and Thorme Street, according to police dispatch reports.

Police searched for a suspected shooter or shooters who fled in a van, according to dispatch reports. A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available.
