Dozens of local residents responded to the call and on the weekend of Aug. 5 and 6 participated in a taco sale and food sale, respectively, to raise money for the families of those who died during a tragic accident on Interstate 10 in Fontana on Aug. 4.
Organized by the Anaya-Janacua family, the Saturday fundraising event attracted residents from several surrounding cities who gladly donated toward the funeral fund of Maria Luisa Rodriguez, 58, Isaac Briseno, 12 and Ailyn Miguel, 12.
The victims were coming to Bloomington from La Puente to participate in an annual family reunion when tragedy struck.
The driver of the vehicle, Karina Briseno, the daughter of Rodriguez, survived the crash. She was transported to a local hospital and released that night.
