Any information on case of Sacramento woman killed by teenage neighbor in 1979? – California News

Q: When I was young, around 1978-80, a lady on our street was murdered by her 15-year-old neighbor. Her name was Susan Talbot and she lived near Fruitridge and 65th Street. Any information would be appreciated. What happened to the boy?

A: A 15-year-old boy was arrested and booked into juvenile hall on a charge of murder in the June 1979 slaying of 63-year-old Susan Talbot.

The boy’s name was not released because of his age, and no information was found in The Sacramento Bee’s archive’s regarding the disposition of the case.

Police said Talbot, who was stabbed in the throat and strangled, apparently walked into her home on 66th Street about 5:30 p.m. and surprised her assailant as he was committing a burglary, according to stories in The Bee.
